Reflections, looking back on a series of etchings I completed over twenty years ago…
The etchings themselves use many methods to create the final images, such as dry point, acid baths, hard ground, soft ground, and mezzotint. It took many hours to create and print each image. I remember enjoying the process of printmaking, like the creation of each etching was a ritual.

Looking at the images now I remember there not being a conceptual process to making them, but it being a spontaneous and fluid experience.
The first of the three images depicts a shadow of a person looking out of a window. Then, as we move to the second and third images we gain a better view of the person, who I perceive to be me. The three images start with a shadow of a person looking out the window.
When I look at my younger self in the etchings I see a woman who is haunted by her past.
I am not sure what I was trying to say through these images, or if I was trying to say anything at all. Perhaps subconsciously I was trying to look into myself and find answers.
